Morakinyo Olayiwola Gabriel is a licensed clinical psychologist with nearly 20 years of experience helping individuals overcome mental, emotional, and behavioral challenges. He is deeply committed to providing clients with the tools they need for self-discovery and growth. He specializes in psychological assessments and psychotherapy aimed at fostering personal and social adjustments for a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

 

Currently serving as the Director of the Psychology Department at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Morakinyo has developed a rich expertise in a range of psychological issues, including childhood trauma, adolescent crises, depression in women, sexual and gender-related matters, substance abuse, marital and family relationships, and workplace psychology. His approach combines compassion with evidence-based techniques, and he is incredibly passionate about empowering clients to recognize their inner potential and build resilience.

 

Morakinyo holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from the University of Lagos. He is also concluding his PhD program in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ibadan. His academic training has equipped him with advanced skills in psychological evaluation, psychotherapy, and behavioral interventions, which he applies across diverse populations and settings.

 

In addition to his clinical work, Morakinyo is a recognized leader within the professional community. He is currently serving his second term as the Vice Chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the Nigeria Psychological Association (NPA), where he also chairs several key committees. He mentors aspiring clinical psychologists, helping guide them in their career paths and promoting ethical practices.

 

His professional goals include advancing the practice of Clinical Psychology in Nigeria, improving advocacy for mental health issues, and enhancing training standards for future generations of psychologists. Morakinyo is also a consultant to various service centers, providing on-demand psychological interventions, training, and teaching to psychology students.

 

Besides his clinical and professional commitments, Morakinyo enjoys playing tournament chess, traveling, writing poetry, and attending theater performances. His diverse interests enrich his approach to therapy, allowing him to connect with clients on a personal level while maintaining a strong focus on their mental health and well-being.
